Synopsis

Documentary about Jewish labour camps in The Netherlands during WW II, from January till October 1942. The documentary features among others Max Stodel (95), the last living worker of one of these these camps, now living in Los Angeles. The film also shows how the Nazi’s exploited the existing infrastructure of municipal services of Amsterdam. By forcing the Jewish people to become unemployed they were eligible for a place in a labour camp in the eastern part of the Netherlands. On Yom Kippour, a Jewish holy day, the Jewish men in these camps were send to Westerbork and from there, united with their families, to the so called labour camps in Eastern Europe. All together about 15.000-20.000 people. Max Stodel is one of the last survivors of these camps.
