Synopsis
“Blue Eyes – Brown Eyes” is a journey probing into sibling relationships and their lifelong influence. Is brotherly love a myth? A cassette and family photo album left to me by my late mother serve as the point of departure for my personal story. The cassette contains her simple but moving, startling confession – “I made mistakes”.
The film also uncovers the story of my younger sister, living at a great distance, in America, for more than thirty years. She was always “different”. She gives the film its title – “Blue Eyes – Brown Eyes.”
Along the second axis, more characters, unrelated to our family, shed light on other aspects. A close look at the seemingly innocent childhood photographs reveals new insight. Family dynamics suddenly become clear. Meaningful choices and decisions made in our life, like choosing a partner or a profession, the ability to work in a team, or even the confidence to perform on stage are shown to be related to the sibling effect.
