Elka Nikolova

Elka Nikolova is a New York based independent filmmaker. Her main interests are human rights, women\'s issues, immigration and artists portraits. Her first documentary film BINKA: To Tell a Story About Silence , a portrait of Bulgarian pioneer film director Binka Zhelyakova premiered at MOMA, NY in 2007, and won the audience award at the South East European Film Festival, LA in 2008, The Bitter Cup award of the University of Sofia, Bulgaria, the debut film award at the Golden Rython Documentary Film Festival, Plovdiv, Bulgaria. She is currently working on a two part documentary exploring the legacy of the Holocaust in the Balkans through the stories of group of Bulgarian and Greek Jews from New York.
